So in the early 2000's as students at the school I was working at started to use computers more, they also found ways of being annoying. One student discovered a command in the Windows CLI called 'NET SEND' and would send messages to everyone using this. They told someone else, and sooner than later every kid was sending messages.
So I wrote some software that detected this, and from the moment they sent the message, their computer would lock with big red/yellow text on the screen alerting the teacher to what they were doing.
It was amazing how embarrsed these kits were, and it would also write a log, so those who chose to reboot the computer and tell the teacher something was wrong with the computer to avoice them seeing the message, would still be sent to the detention room when we looked at the log each day.
These days, we actively encourage students to collaborate, as it is a 21 Century skill. Oh how time changes..

Back in my first year of Univeristy, they talked about this compiler called the Little Man Compiler. It was supposed to teach us about how a computer works at the most fundamental levels. We had to write LMC machine code and then software provided by the UNI would interpret that and give results.
Onlly thing was, it was all command line software with Text output. So I decided to do one better and make a graphical version..

At the same school I wrote the Helpdesk System, was a need for an Inventory Database. Having this made my life so much easier, especially every year when reporting to the Govt came around. Click the report button and seconds later I had my numbers!
Ah the memories..

Back in the day, when Napster and other file sharing software was around for the benfeits of sharing MP3 files, often the files would download onto your computer without the full name of the artist and track in the filename. Fortunately, some people who shared these files would update the ID3 tag inside the MP3 File.
This software would install into your Context Menu (Right Click menu) in explorer. You could then right click and rename your MP3 file to the Artist and Track data located in the ID3 file.
I was chuffed at the time, as I had thousands of badly name MP3 files and this thing in a few seconds managed to organise about 80% of it.
These days, MP3 Files are almost as obsolete as CD's, Tapes, as we now stream our music. Luckily, Vinyl isn't dead yet.
