Another school I worked at required the submission of jobs to their print room. I wrote this program that sat in the shared drive, people would load this and submit jobs. The print room officer would then run this like a ticketing system. It would create reports on who printed what etc. 

These days Papercut does a much better job..

In a school I worked at we upgraded from OASIS Library system to ALICE a windows based version, we needed to upgrade the old DOS OPAC Terminals to windows. Problem is, Windows support ALT-TAB and a bunch of other shortcut keys that makes it almost impossible to lock the machine to a single screen. 

Enter OPACKERN - A shell frontend for Windows. This replaced explorer with its own basic app. It will then run products based on the config file. 

It doesn't just run Alice, it can be tailored to run anything, want a webpage load up run this..

Back in the infancy of DropBox and OneDrive, I developed a framework built on top of Synctoy that could write data back to a webdav published file share. This is now what products like OwnCloud do with ease, so I stopped developing it. 

But it was fun while it lasted...

Back at the turn of the century a school I was working at was slowly hooking up all its buildings and placing computers in the staffrooms for teachers to use. I saw an opportunity to save admin time by having notices created in the staffroom as opposed to taking written pieces of paper to administration. 

School Notice Editor was born. Later versions could FTP upload to the web.
