We provide free software to schools. Something we have been doing for the past 10 years. Recently a school contacted us for support and was under the impression they paid for our software. As IT Administrators and Network Technicians pass the battens onto new staff, some are mistakenly under the impression that FreeMEG software costs their school money. This is NOT true and has never been the case. The only time we will ever charge is if the school wants modifications to the software and wants us to make those changes outside of our own development schedule.

As we have taken the time to write this software (years of development, not a couple of days) and have generously donated it to the school ICT community it is only fair that we cannot always support our users. We do not have a complicated call centre environment, we cannot afford to pay someone to be a support contact during normal business hours. Support is strictly through our Support Forum. Please consider this when using our software. In 99% of cases our software is well enough designed to "Just Work" it is not overly complicated to work out how to use, but if you are considering using this software for your school please note two things:

a) This software will save you money as you will not have bought a competitors product.

b) Support is limited because you have not paid us any money.

Over the years we have had some frustrated IT personnel of schools wanting support, who have not considered these facts. It is also fact that some of these people have been rude in demanding support from us and some have bypassed the official Support Forum. We find these people have abused our generosity, and we will no longer respond to them. Infact it is so seldom that we get good feedback from schools using our software, that many times we have considered pulling the plug entirely on the website after all there is even running costs in keeping this alive.

So please be considerate when contacting support, use the Support Forum, and do not complain when we are unable to help straight away...
